Intro: Ch.4:13-18- Christ returns for His church-
I. We must be careful to d istinguish between His
Coming for His church and His coming with His
Church. Note “dead in Christ…we who are alive will
Be caught up..” Contrast with Rev.19:11-4-
1) Terminology: Rapture=catching away of saints
Return= His advent to this earth-
Tribulation= Mt.24:9,21- period of intense prophetic
fulfillment following the Rapture where world is subject
to catastrophe/violence under the rule of antichrist.
Regathering significant events of Tribulation
Conversion of Israel = related to Israel & OT prophecy
Antichrist =polit/relig. Leader of world-wide proportions
who hates/persecutes believers in Tribulation
Contrast Rapture and Return of Christ
Christ comes for His own comes with His own
Comes in the Air Comes to the earth
Removes believers Reveals Himself as Son of Man
Private to believers Public to all the world
Tribulation begins Trib.ends; millennial rule begins
Believers delivered from wrath Unconverted experience His wrath
No signs to precede Many signs precede
Focus: on Lord & church on Israel and nations
World is deceived afterward Satan is bound afterward
II.His return for the church (rapture) will e nd this
Age. Removal of church means those left behind are
subject to further deception- II Thess. 2:7-12
1) Those not raptured continue their lives in the Tribulation
2) Those who are raptured up will go to the Judgment
Seat of Christ for evaluation/reward- I Cor.3:11- 15
II Cor.5:10,11-15, Romans 14:12
“overcomes” are rewarded- Rev.2-3 and rule- 20:6
3) We must labor & serve now as His church in order to
be rewarded later- Col.3:23-25, II John 8
