THE LAMB OF GOD – PART 3 Listen to Audio
April 5, 2009
Intro: Isaiah 52:13-53:12- already seen Christ as the Lamb
Of God and His traits as “without blemish”-
I. THE LAMB AS VICTIM- 53:4-9 – victim as sin-bearer,
not due to helplessness, but due to willingness to die
1. Substitution already seen in the death of animals in LEV
2. God chooses the substitute- vs.4 and vs. 6
3. Clearly, the righteous One suffers on behalf of the
guilty
4.There was the pouring out of God’s wrath toward the
wrong-doer through the death of the substitute, Jesus.
II. THE LAMB AS AN OFFERING 53:10-12- focuses
more on acceptance of the victim.
1) In God accounting sin & guilt to the Victim, justice is
acting rather than fairness.
>God accounts sin to Christ—that action is beyond
our choice! It is within the Trinity’s plan.
2. The offended justice of God is placated, vindicated and
Christ is fully accepted on our behalf.
3. The removal of sin is accomplished—there remains the
receiving of righteousness. This is achieved when the
sinner believes on Christ as Savior- Rom.4:5
