CRISIS IN THE LIVES OF THE SAINTS- PART 6 Listen to Audio
Ezekiel
June 28,2009
Intro: Ch. 24:15-27- this remarkable man exhibits a
level of obedience rarely seen while under pressure.
I. Occasion of this moment – background-
1. National disobedience- see 7:19, 23 and 3:7-9
2. National chastisement- Israel has been under divine
discipline, but the Temple is still standing. Israel has
been exiled, but remained unrepentant.
3. Removal of the symbol of national joy =Temple
in Jerusalem see Jere.7:4-11 and Ezk.7:20
What was given as a blessing (Temple), instead
became misused, abused and corrupted.
II. Obedience of this man-
1. Ezekiel’s service included the display of his
experience as an example. 24:19
2. His obedience was necessary in order for the
experience to be of value- Ezkekiel must NOT
cry or mourn if Israel was to take notice.
3. Faithfulness and consistency were the high
water marks of his life. 24:18
III. Outcome of this matter- results?
1. God gave a lesson with one’s life, not with just
one’s lips. 24:24
see II Cor.3:2 “you are our epistle written in our
hearts” What lesson does your life teach?
2. With this service, Ezekiel demonstrated his own
name—Ezekiel=strength of God
3. What did Ezekiel get out of this? As he announced
the doom of the Davidic Temple, so he proclaimed
the glory of the Messianic Temple in chap.40-48.
