Intro: Our study of Practice of Stewardship leads us

To examine the Rewards of Stewardship-

 

I.CAREFULLY DISTINGUISH THE GIFT OF ETERNAL

LIFE FROM EARNED REWARDS.

1) Eternal life is a free gift received by those who

believe on Christ as Savior- Jn.3:36, Rom.5:1

2) Reward is the gracious sharing with believers

benefits in the future kingdom for service in this life.

Rev. 22:12

 

II. THESE REWARDS FOR SERVICE MAY BE

EXPRESSED IN TERMS OF STATUS OR IN TERMS

OF BENEFIT.

 

1) APPROVED OR FAULTLESS- Jude 24, II Tim.2:15

Having been to Judg.Seat of Christ for evaluation, one

Receives approval from the Lord for genuine Christian

Living.- I Cor.3:13-15, Rom.14:12, II Cor.5:9-10

 

2)INHERITANCE- Col.3:23-25,  I Cor. 6:9-11

Obedient bel. receive an inheritance; disobedient ones

do not. (also in Eph.5 and Gal.5)

 

3)ENDURERS OR THOSE WITH ENDURANCE- II Tim.2:12,

James 1:12- God’s response to bel. who patiently endured

challenging circumstances.

 

4) PARTAKERS (metachoi)- Heb. 3:1, 14- co-laborers,

friends, companions

 

5) OVERCOMERS- Rev. 3:21 – God’s benefit for those

who faced issues of doctrinal/moral challenge in their

respective generations.

 

6) RULERS- Luke 19:11-17- faithfulness brought verbal

commendation and investment of authority
