I.BELIEVERS STRUGGLE WITH 2 NATURES.

Gal. 5:16-25

1)Flesh- the unredeemed portion of our person rooted

in Adam (old sin nature)- Rom.5:19

  “manifest”= phaneroo- visible, evident

People sin because of a “sinful nature”.

2)The Spirit- the indwelling of God following our

conversion-

Godliness is result of God’s indwelling each Christian.

II.SYNONYMS FOR LIFE IN THE SPIRIT.

All four words in the imperative mood (command)

1) Yielding –Rom. 6:13-16-emphasizes power of the

Spirit to produce godliness

2)Walking- Gal. 5:16- emphasizes the moment-by-

moment assurance we can obey the Word

3) Filling- Eph.5:18- emphasizes God’s sufficiency to

make up what is lacking in our spiritual poverty

4) Abiding- John 15:4-7- emphasizes intimacy of
