WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON IN HEAVEN? (Audio Unavailable)

Intro: Revelation ch.4-5- many things work against our

Understanding of heaven—including base curiosity,

simple disinterest and pre-occupation with self.

I.  ALL ATTENTION IS CENTERED ON THE PERSON

AND WORTH OF JESUS CHRIST.  4:10, 5:9, 12

  1) That has always been God’s plan- John 1:1-2, 17:24

  2) Should be what is normal and fitting for a believer

II. PARTICIPANTS IN HEAVEN DO NOT WORRY

OVER THE AFFAIRS OF MEN.

  1) As worry is such a common & frequent activity, it

   is difficult for us to imagine living without it.

   Psa.37:1,  Phil.4:6

  2) No one in heaven panics over inflation, political

   intrigue or such.

III. GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY IS EVIDENCED AND

OBSERVED.  4:11- created for your pleasure

  1) How quickly we forget that God is in control-

   Isa.44:24-28

  2) To remember His control is one of the greatest

   stabilizers we may experience.  Isa.14:24-27

IV.  IN HEAVEN, THERE IS RECOGNITION OF

PRAYERS AND SUPPLICATIONS OF GOD’S PEOPLE.

  See 5:8

  1) Heaven has time to “hear” our prayer-

  2) Such should motivate deeper, genuine prayer.

V.  THERE IS AT LEAST SOME REMEMBRANCE

BY HEAVEN’S PARTICIPANTS OF EARTH’S AFFAIRS.

  See 4:11, 5:9—no tears—see Rev.21:4

  1) Difficult to imagine believers in heaven weeping over

   disobedient lives (distract from Lamb)

VI. ACTUAL IDENTITIES IN HEAVEN ARE BASED

ON SPIRITUAL REALITIES ON EARTH.

  See 5:5 “Lion of tribe of Judah..”  5:9 “kings & Priests”

  *Not electricians, housewives, sports figures”- but Saints!

  1) Some of heaven can be brought to earth by focusing

   on spiritual realities!
