Intro: Ch.2:25- “returned to the Shepherd of our souls”

Today, we see the Shepherd’s Activity-

I. THE SMITTEN SHEPHERD- Zech.12:7 > Mt.26:30-31

1) He bore our sins- I Pet.2:24 and Isa.53:6-

 See Isa.53:10-12—

2) Good news is that God has received Jesus’ suffering &

death on our behalf—so, pardon is available to those who

believe.

II. THE SEEKING SHEPHERD- Ezk.34:12, Luke 15:1-10

1) He first loved us- John 3:16, I John 3:16, 4:9-10

2) He works providentially to reach each person- Hos.11:4

III. THE NOURISHING SHEPHERD- Isaiah 40:11

1) Feed- Our shepherd gives us His Word to nourish us.

Job.23:12, Psa.119:103, I Cor.3:2, I Pet.2:2 ,  Heb.5:12-14

2) Gather- (to worship)- Heb.10:24-26, Mt.18:20

3) Carry- to strengthen the weak- Phil.4;13

4) Lead- Prov.3:5-6
