Intro: Chap.5:10 – study of God’s
grace
I.
Note Peter refers to “the God of all grace..”
1) Wherever grace is experienced by
sinners, the source
of grace is only in
God
2) All of this “grace” is mediated
thru Jesus Christ.
John 1:14,17
3) There is a suggestion of the
“inexhaustibility” of
grace-
Rom.5:20
II.
Grace is the term for the unique divine
provision
for
our needs as sinners and is expressive of God’s
favor
toward the undeserving.
1) Grace was a divine motivation-
II Tim.1:9-10
2) While grace be seen in glimpses in the OT, it is
fully
revealed in Jesus Christ-
III.
Grace is particularly and specifically a
component
in
how God delivers sinners from their guilt.
Read
Eph.2:1-10
1)The work of obtaining forgiveness of
sins was done by
Christ
alone.
2)The conflict between God’s perfect
righteousness and our
sinful practices is answered by Jesus
bearing our sins.
3)Grace not only moves our sin to Christ
on the Cross, but
also gives the believer the
righteousness of Christ Himself.
4) So, Grace excludes systems of
human merit, human good
and human achievement. See Luke
18:9-14
