discuss our conduct
as
believers.
I.
Believers are to alter their conduct to match the
moral
qualities of God. 1:13
1) Our changed relationship to God
brings a realization
of that change causing changed
behavior.
“gird up”
& “be sober” =participles
2) It is a life of responsiveness
(obed.= under &
hear)
3) Standard =Divine
Character-“Holy”
*Single most serious act of worship
is to conform to
God’s
character.
II.
Such conduct reflects each believer’s choice
as a
sojourner. 1:17
1) “w/o
partiality”
2) “conduct yourselves” – same word as vs.15 &
18
III.
Such godly conduct is predicated upon our
redemption.- 1:18-20
“knowing”- perception
1) Redemption = lutroo- to release upon pytmt.
of a
ransom – to buy & release a
slave
2) Aimless conduct- tyranny of
religious rituals
3) “precious blood of Christ”- story of cruc./death
IV.
Our faith is in the God who delivered
Christ.1:21
It is the “raising from the dead
giving glory” God!
To those suffering, this truth is
extraordinary!
