Intro: Ch.4:11-16-  while this applies most directly to

Pastors, it has value to all believers.

I. Conduct-  4:11-12

1) Consider Timothy’s age-  about 30-35 yr old

2) To minimize question of age/experience

“word”- private conversation   “conduct”- public behavior

“love” – compassion + principles

“spirit” – demeanor or attitude  “faith”-confidence in God

“purity” – moral decency

II. Content- 4:13  see 4:1- “give heed”

By content = to bring substance to ministry & life

‘reading’-              personal growth will

‘exhortation’         produce public

‘doctrine’                effectiveness

III. Charisma- 4:14  Each bel. gets a gift-I Cor.12:7,11

“given by prophecy” – accompanied by proph. testimony

“laying on ..hands …presbytery”- affirmed by ch.leadership

IV. Concentration- 4:15-16-

1) ‘meditate’- to care, to practice

Meditation is the discipline of review, joined with reflection,

that brings repentance.

“progress”- beneficial changes observed in your life-

2) ‘continue in them’- intensive form of abide-

  This is done to deliver oneself and those under such

ministry from false doctrine.
