McPherson
Senior Pastor
Dave
McPherson, raised in north Alabama, has served as pastor
of Maranatha since fall of 1974. After completing his Bible
college training in the early 1970's, he labored in the
independent Baptist circles where he was ordained to the
ministry. Arriving in New Orleans, he began his lifelong
study of the scriptures. Committed to the inerrancy of the
Word of God, he has taught every verse in more than a dozen
books of the Old Testament and all 27 books of the New Testament.
Along with this, he has developed several hundred sermons
and series on other portions of the scripture. Pastor McPherson
led Maranatha to step away from the independent Baptist
movement into the Bible church movement in the mid-1980's
and sought to re-establish a focus on grace in salvation
and sancification. He is a member of the FREE GRACE
ALLIANCE.
Early in his Christian life, Pastor McPherson was introduced
to dispensational teaching that has characterized his approach
to the divine program ever since. He is convinced that the
function of the pastor-teacher is to guide believers into
maturity. For many years, his radio program was heard daily
in the New Orleans area as he sought to teach the Word of
God, rightly divided. Also, since 1983, he has
served as chaplain for the Third District Volunteer Fire
Department of River Ridge.
He resides with his wife, Susan and their rat terrier, Princess
in River Ridge.
